Fun in the Sun

These were taken the other day when it was near 90 here in Ohio. The kids were so hot we went to the store and got this cute pool. They had a blast splashing around and catching "sea creatures." Hmm, I wonder what those are?

Splish Splash

Look I caught a duck Mommy! (I love that they are splashing in the pool and the tree behind them hasn't even begun to bud yet. It's never this warm this time of year.)

Live In Color....

The weather was great right before Easter for some outside play, so we took the kiddos over to the neighborboring subdivision (we live right on a main county semi-country road) to ride their bikes and car. They had loads of fun racing, but Toby really wanted to go back to the church parking lot to play. So while there we made up a game both of them could enjoy and Daddy got a workout in the process. I strung all the videos together so you didn't have to hit multiple players...together they only take alittle over a minute. Enjoy. I know you don't get to see them in action too often.

Easter Part 2

Well hello again everyone! Today is part 2, the kiddos all dressed up after church....which means mainly posed pictures. They both looked absolutely precious, but then again I'm biased. :) Mass was beautiful Sunday with spectacular music which means the kiddos didn't nap. After mass we headed to my parent's house to spend time with our good friend (and Liliana's Godfather) Rob, which means the kids didn't nap. After that was the egg hunt and baskets which means the kids didn't nap. And after that Greg's family arrived...I think you get the picture. We had two sugared up, didn't eat a real lunch, tired children for the afternoon. Oh yeah that was really fun at times, especially trying to help get dinner ready. So if they look sad or upset in the pictures, well now you know why. Tomorrow you'll get the egg hunt and the results of their sugared upness (my blog, my word).

If you're wondering what happened to Toby's lip.....Greg hd the kids outside playing on Saturday and Toby decided he would try climbing a tree while Greg was doing something with Lili. The result was a fat lip for Easter. Nice huh? :)

Easter Part 1

Because I don't want to listen to any more complaints, I am updating the blog. We have been pretty busy with a bunch of things so the blog is what took the hit....sorry about that mi familia.

Easter was fantastic! We had a great couple of days celebrating. Today you're getting Saturday and first thing Sunday morning because I have WAY too many for one post (and I'm gonna milk it this week since it's gonna be a slow week around here). On saturday we colored eggs. Lili thought the eggs were balls so Greg had the special job of making sure she didn't toss them into the cups. He wasn't quick enough a couple of times and she made a huge mess, but had a blast doing it. :) Toby was all about the redying of the eggs. They just weren't pretty enough for him, and 12 just wasn't enough either. So he redyed all his eggs many times with some very interesting color combinations. In the end we salvaged about 20 beautifully dyed eggs out of 24 so that wasn't too bad.

Saturday night as soon as the kids went to sleep, I got to work. I filled the baskets and wrapped them up. Then I stuffed all the eggs. By the time I was done with those two projects I needed a break. During my break, I had a couple of drinks. Probably wasn't my smartest idea since Greg reminded me I wasn't done. So half tipsy I put on my bunny ears and my winter coat, grabbed the flashlight and the easter eggs and headed outside at 11:45 at night to hide eggs. I thought for sure the neighbors were gonna call the cops on the two crazy people wandering around the backyard with a flashlight, skipping, saying hippity hoppity and "hiding" eggs. I guess they're used to my crazy ass. It took about 15 minutes, but we succeeded in our mission. Upon returning to the house I realized I hadn't made Liliana's hairbow yet, so I went about doing that. I must say for being pretty tipsy and tired, her bow looked really cute. So there's my funny easter story for you.

Easter morning went very smooth and quick. The kids tore into their baskets and they loved the couple of things they got. I tried to get them things they would actually continue to use. So Toby got a Cars radiator springs road mat, a new car, and coconutty monkey playdough set. Liliana got an aqaudoodle (I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone with little ones. It's great and they love it. Best of all no mess.), a cinderella dress up set, and a Mickey toy. After opening the baskets, the kids begged to go on the egg hunt. So complete with slippers and winter coats, we went outside to hunt. They did great and found most of them without too much prompting from us. After that we got cleaned up and went to church and they looked absolutely adorable.....but you have to wait until tomorrow for that. :)

Lions and Tigers and Bears...

must be a day at the Pittsburgh Zoo. Yesterday was one of those rare spring days where it was 72 and sunny. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to use our expiring zoo pass and take a trip to the zoo. We spent 4 and a half wonderful hours exploring the zoo and playing. It was awesome. Toby was all about taking a look and then dragging us to the next animal, but Liliana likes to watch the animals for awhile. So I used it as an oppportunity to talk with him about the animals which he seemed to enjoy and he'd linger alittle longer at each animal. Some of our favorite activities yesterday were our picnic lunch and seeing a ton of snakes (they weren't part of an exhibit but instead were about 20-30 strong on the hillside next to the walkway sunning themselves, socializing, and mating. It was really awesome). Our very favorite part was meeting a new friend named Sarah in the kid's play area. Toby and Lili played with her for 40 minutes while me and Sarah's mommy sat it talked. It was a nice breather for me who had been pulling 60+ pounds around in a wagon all day (and Pittsburgh's not flat). Can't wait to do it all again....we had SO MUCH FUN!
